Aims and objectives
Purpose

The society is a non-profit organisation concerned with improvement of early detection, treatment, research and prevention of eating disorders, development and health promotion in the field of eating behaviour and body- & self-image, to minimise the incidence of eating disorders.

Aims

 
The ASED is dedicated to
developing a network of various psychosocial occupational groups specialised in eating disorders.
promoting training in early detection, diagnosis, counselling and treatment.
promoting scientific research in early detection, diagnosis, counselling, treatment & prognosis; prevention and health promotion regarding eating disorders.
improving interdisciplinary co-operation particularly with obesity experts.
developing and evaluating health promotion measures in the field of eating behaviour, body & self-image in order to minimise the incidence of eating disorders and to maximise the development of individual potentialities.
providing consultation for & co-operation with public and private institutions relevant to the Society's purposes.
fostering international co-operation in these fields.
 
Objectives
Develop a network of various psychosocial occupational groups specialised in eating disorders.
 
Promote training in early detection, diagnosis, counseling and treatment; prevention & health promotion regarding eating disorders to improve the therapeutic standards for sufferers and relatives.
 
Promote research in the field of eating disorders.
 
Develop guidelines for treatment, professional education & training and professional ethical behaviour in the field of eating disorders.
 
Improve the interdisciplinary co-operation particularly with obesity experts.
 
Develop and evaluate health promotion measures in the field of eating behaviour, body & self-image in order minimise the incidence and to maximise the development of individual potentialities particularly for adolescents.
 
Increase the public's sensitisation on the contribution of thinness-obsession and on the devaluation of one's natural figure and body forms.
 
Consult and cooperate with public and private institutions aiming at improvement of the situation of sufferers and relatives.
 
Foster international co-operation in these fields.
